In 1993 Ford Motorsport choose 3 rally crews which will fight for Ford on Rally Sweden. It was Malcolm Wilson, Sebastian Lindholm and Michael Ericsson. The 1993 Rally Sweden had 28SS and total lenght was 1432km. Malcolm drove the blue-yellow Michelin Pilot Escort with the start number 11 on its doors. The car was prepared by his own company Malcolm Wilson Motorsport. In these days there was a lack of bodyworks so instead of the traditional maker Ford Motorsport Boreham another 4 bodyworks were made by the company Gartrac. 3 of them were LHD, 1 RHD. The Wilson with his co-driver Bryan Thomas pushed hard form the start of the rally and they were on the first place overall after first two stages but unfortunately they made a mistake on the 3rd stage and they crashed their Escort and with the damaged rear right suspension it was impossible to continue the rally. After repair it was used as the show car on commercial days. In the end of the 1993 season it was back on the rally stages. Robiie Head drove this Escort on Manx Rally, where he finished 3rd overall, and on the Network Q RAC Rally where he crashed the Escord again. After that, it was sold somewhere to Indonesia. After a long time the Finnish rally collector and enthusiast Jukka Metsälä found this car in Estonia where it was imported to from Kuwait in a very bad shape. Jukka didn´t know what car it was, so he started to restore it. During the restoration works he started to investigate the origin of the car. After many hours of work is the Escort in condition like before the Rally Sweden 1993. The rally marshal Kai Tarkainen told to Malcolm Wilson about this car during the Neste Rally Finland 2016. The Malcom wanted to see the car and when he saw it, he was amazed, so he parked this car to the M-Sport service park on this event. He also gave the certificate of origin to this car. Since the April 2018 is this Gr.A Escort Cosworth the part of our collection.
